Skies of Blue Classroom

My Project

I love how resilient, creative, and hardworking my students are each and every day. They come into the classroom ready to learn, grow, and overcome challenges, and I want to provide them with the tools they need to feel successful, comfortable, and supported while learning.

The noise-canceling headphones will help students who become easily distracted or overwhelmed stay focused and calm during independent work and small group activities.

The dry-erase boards will allow students to actively participate in lessons, practice important skills, and build confidence in a fun and engaging way. The label maker and cart organizer will help create a more organized classroom environment where students can easily access materials and learn important routines and independence skills. Laminating sheets will help preserve classroom visuals, schedules, learning tools, and activities that students use daily so they can be reused throughout the year.

The ice machine will be especially helpful for students and staff during long school days, warm weather, and moments when students may need ice packs or cold water to regulate and feel comfortable. Every item on this wish list will help create a positive, supportive, and well-organized learning environment where my students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Ms. Martin will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by September 28.

Donations to this project are now being matched, thanks to support from Dalio Education. Join in funding Connecticut classroom projects to show appreciation for teachers and their dedication to their students.

A Thank You to Those Who Support My Classroom 💙

To the incredible donors who choose to support my classroom,

There are truly no words big enough to express how grateful I am for your kindness and generosity. Every donation, no matter the size, is so much more than a gift — it is a reminder to my students that there are people who believe in them, care about their success, and want to see them thrive.

As a special education teacher, I have the privilege of working with students who each have their own unique strengths, challenges, dreams, and stories. My classroom is a place where we celebrate progress, build confidence, learn from mistakes, and remind each other every day that we are capable of more than we sometimes realize.

Your support helps provide materials, resources, and experiences that allow my students to learn in ways that meet their needs. The items you help bring into our classroom become tools for growth, creativity, independence, and moments of joy that my students may not otherwise have had.

What you may see as a donation, my students experience as opportunity.

Thank you for investing in children. Thank you for believing that every student deserves the chance to feel successful, supported, and valued. Your generosity reaches far beyond our classroom walls — it becomes part of the memories and milestones my students carry with them.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being a part of our classroom family.

With gratitude,
Miss Martin AKA Fran 💙 xo

Welcome to Skies of Blue!

Hello, I’m Fran. I’m 47 years old and live in Danbury, Connecticut with my husband, Jason, and our son, Jason. I am a special education teacher in Waterbury, Connecticut, and I have always had a heart for helping others grow, learn, and believe in themselves.

Writing is one of my greatest passions. It has become both an outlet and a calling — a place where reflection meets faith, life lessons meet vulnerability, and ordinary moments become meaningful stories. Through reading, writing, pallet projects, run challenges, and deep, heartfelt conversations, I find joy in connection and creativity.

I am the writer behind skiesofblue.org, where I share pieces of my life’s journey — the growth, the struggles, the faith, the healing, and the beauty found along the way. I truly believe words have power: power to encourage, to comfort, to challenge, and to inspire change.

My blog is dedicated to Blue Sky Behavioral Health, LLC, located in Danbury, Connecticut.

You can learn more about their work at https://blueskyrecovery.com/.

Supporting mental health, healing, and personal transformation is deeply important to me, and I am honored to align this space with a mission that helps others find hope and restoration.

I wake up each morning grateful — excited for life, grounded in faith, and energized by the opportunity to give, to serve, and to create. I love God, I love my family, I love my students and I love building meaningful connections with people.

“Fran” was my childhood nickname, and “Martin” is my maiden name — together, they form the name behind this space: Fran Martin.

Thank you for being here. I hope you enjoy reading these blogs as much as I cherish writing them.

With gratitude,
Fran
