To My Son on National Sons Day

Today is National Sons Day, and I can’t let this day pass without celebrating the boy who made me a mother.

Jason Robert, you are the light of my world. You make me proud every single day. You are kind, caring, loving, thoughtful, intelligent, and generous. Whether I call you my little boy or my young man now that you’re 11, one thing will never change—you will always be my baby.

From the moment you came into this world, my life changed forever. You gave my life a deeper meaning and a purpose that I had never known before. Watching you grow, learn, laugh, and become the person you are today has been the greatest gift I could have ever received.

Sometimes I wish I could keep you little forever, but I know that’s not how life works. The days can feel long, but the years somehow fly right on by. Each time your birthday comes around I feel a mix of emotions—sad that time is moving so quickly, but also excited watching you grow into such a wonderful young man. Daddy and I are so proud of the person you are becoming.

You work so hard in school and you give your all on the baseball field. Your determination and competitive spirit push you to do your best, and it makes us so proud to watch you. But what makes me proudest is not just what you accomplish—it’s the way you carry yourself, the way you treat people, and the kindness you show to others.

You are also such a great big cousin. You have that natural protective instinct—you stand up for what is right and look out for the people you love. You are not afraid to speak up and stand your ground when something isn’t right, and that is something I admire so much about you. It shows the strength of your character and the goodness in your heart.

Most of all, you are simply a good human being. You care about others, you are gentle and loving with your animals, and you carry kindness in your heart wherever you go. Those qualities matter more than anything else in life, and they will take you farther than you could ever imagine.

As you grow older, I hope you always remember that you are capable of anything you set your mind to. Be brave, stay kind, work hard, and never stop believing in yourself. No matter where life takes you or how much time passes, you will always have a home in my heart and Daddy’s heart.

Jason, watching you grow has been the greatest privilege of my life, and if I have done nothing else right in this world, being your mom will always be the thing I am most proud of.

Happy National Sons Day, Jason Robert. ❤️

Love always,
Mom and Dad xo

Welcome to Skies of Blue!

Hello, I’m Fran. I’m 47 years old and live in Danbury, Connecticut with my husband, Jason, and our son, Jason. I am a special education teacher in Waterbury, Connecticut, and I have always had a heart for helping others grow, learn, and believe in themselves.

Writing is one of my greatest passions. It has become both an outlet and a calling — a place where reflection meets faith, life lessons meet vulnerability, and ordinary moments become meaningful stories. Through reading, writing, pallet projects, run challenges, and deep, heartfelt conversations, I find joy in connection and creativity.

I am the writer behind skiesofblue.org, where I share pieces of my life’s journey — the growth, the struggles, the faith, the healing, and the beauty found along the way. I truly believe words have power: power to encourage, to comfort, to challenge, and to inspire change.

My blog is dedicated to Blue Sky Behavioral Health, LLC, located in Danbury, Connecticut.

Supporting mental health, healing, and personal transformation is deeply important to me, and I am honored to align this space with a mission that helps others find hope and restoration.

I wake up each morning grateful — excited for life, grounded in faith, and energized by the opportunity to give, to serve, and to create. I love God, I love my family, I love my students and I love building meaningful connections with people.

“Fran” was my childhood nickname, and “Martin” is my maiden name — together, they form the name behind this space: Fran Martin.

Thank you for being here. I hope you enjoy reading these blogs as much as I cherish writing them.

With gratitude,
Fran
